Now I will have my eyes on the OpenDivX project instead. They will have to work pretty hard on that codec to get my attention. I tried converting the same clip to DivX format at a _lower_ bitrate, and I ended up with a result that was twice as good as the 3ivX. Guess what? It still sucked! I would rather choose to convert it to MPEG-1.

I installed the codec in windows to convert the seinfeld show from last nigth, now the source was in high quality MJPEG. OK, I tried converting some old MPEG1 files I have on my HDD, and the result I got was very poor. Unless pS is using some non-standard way of detecting codecs? (like hardcoded ) In fact, it can’t see my DivX codec either. Mediaconverter can see it fine, but not personalStudio. What is wrong with the Benews site please I wonder if it actually collides with my DivX encoder I have there. I can’t get personalStudio 1.5 to “see” and use the 3iVX encoder. However, you can create your own 3ivX movies by either encoding movies with MediaConverter or ripping DVD’s (and encode them in an OS with Mpeg2 support) Well, 3ivx isn’t commonly used yet (I don’t know if it will ever be though).
